Golf Instructor Profile: Joshua Doxtator, PGA

A native of upstate New York, Josh started playing competitively at 8 years old and competed in numerous Junior PGA Championships and National events.  Josh continued his junior career in St. Louis and held the state record for lowest round recorded in a match, 31, 5 under par; he played Varsity all years attended both in High School and at the Collegiate level (Maryville University).  Following education Josh decided to fulfill his lifetime passion with a career in golf and chose Arizona as his next step in the process.  He has been at the Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia since its opening in February 2004 and started instructing in 2006.  Josh was elected to PGA Membership in 2010 and has developed award winning player development programs recognized both locally and nationally; his students include juniors to seniors, the novice to experienced golfer and has worked with some of the best golfers in the state.  Josh bases his instruction on core fundamentals and ball flight laws knowing that addressing one area will ultimately affect other weakness’ in the game.

“I believe that students can only take in so much at one time and true results come from a specific focus.  Too many golfers fall victim to too many focuses thus creating a vicious cycle of trying to get better without the results.  We work on one thing at a time, repeat the process and work towards reaction.  Once reaction is attained the next focus can be implemented.  Based on personal experience the results can be phenomenal and I know we all have a lot more we’re capable of, we just have to learn how to tap into that and utilize it by keeping it simple.”
